Regulating the Beat

The micro-mechanics that segment time.

The Swiss Lever Escapement

Dominating over 99% of mechanical watches, including the workhorse ETA 2824-2 and the Rolex Caliber 3135, the Swiss Lever is revered for its robust shock resistance. Two synthetic ruby pallets lock and unlock the escape wheel, transferring impulse to the balance wheel.

The Co-Axial Innovation

Invented by Dr. George Daniels in the 1970s and commercialized by Omega, the Co-Axial escapement radically alters friction profiles. By using radial friction rather than sliding friction, it drastically reduces the need for thick lubrication, extending service intervals.

The Detent Escapement

Historically found in marine chronometers (like those inspired by John Harrison's H4), the detent escapement gives an impulse only in one direction. It is incredibly precise but highly sensitive to physical shocks, making it rare in modern wristwatches.
